How Does FlipSeats Work? A Peek Behind the Scenes
We often hear two big questions from sellers new to FlipSeats: “How does FlipSeats work?” and “What happens after I list my tickets?” This article breaks it all down.
FlipSeats is designed to make selling your season tickets as seamless and stress-free as possible. Most of the process is automated, but a few key steps get an extra layer of review from our team. That strategic blend gives you the speed of technology with the peace of mind that a real person is looking out for your success.
How Does FlipSeats Work Behind the Scenes?
After creating your account, you’ll be prompted to link with your Ticketmaster season ticket holder account. Once connected and synced, FlipSeats automatically extracts data about your available tickets and displays it, which simplifies the listing process. No adding barcodes or entering ticket details. All the necessary listing information is right there for you in FlipSeats.
Note: Your tickets always remain in your season ticket holder account until you choose to list them. Linking to your account simply allows FlipSeats to display your tickets for ease in management.
Smart automation + Expert review =
A stress-free way for season ticket holders to sell their tickets
1. Listing Tickets
So, how does FlipSeats work once your season ticket account is synced? Simply select the game and set your listing criteria. FlipSeats securely transfers your tickets from your season ticket account to FlipSeats through the Ticketmaster integration. A team member then reviews your listing to confirm the listing doesn’t have any errors or missing information. This step protects everyone—you, FlipSeats, and the buyer.
Your listing will appear in a “pending” state while our team is reviewing it. Reviews typically take less than an hour during normal business hours, though this can vary depending on volume. Please note that a listing created during off hours may remain in pending status a bit longer.
Once approved, you will receive an email informing you that your tickets are being distributed to leading marketplaces, including Ticketmaster, StubHub, Vivid Seats, SeatGeek, and others, giving you maximum visibility and the best chance to sell.
2. Pro Pricing Listings
If using Pro Pricing, you don’t just get hands-free pricing support—you get strategy. Every listing is reviewed by a member of our pricing team, who sets competitive prices to maximize both visibility and payout. That way, your tickets aren’t just listed—they’re positioned to sell.
3. Editing Listings
Want to change your price or strategy? Updates you make in FlipSeats push to marketplaces automatically, keeping you in full control. Note that marketplaces may take a few minutes to reflect the updates.

4. When Tickets Sell
Once your tickets sell, the transfer to the buyer happens automatically. You don’t need to log in, email buyers, or lift a finger.
5. Cancellations
Sometimes plans change. If you cancel a listing, FlipSeats automatically returns your tickets to your season ticket holder account through the Ticketmaster integration. While the transfer begins right away, there may occasionally be a short delay before the tickets reappear in your account. On the rare occasion there’s a longer delay, we have alerts in place to identify when a manual transfer may be needed.
6. Getting Paid
Another common question is: “How does FlipSeats work when it’s time to get paid?”
Your payment will be processed within 5-8 business days after the event. This short waiting period ensures transfers were successful and protects you and FlipSeats from event-related issues like cancellations.
FlipSeats reviews and approves every payout. Payments are then securely processed through our payment partner and automatically deposited directly to your bank account via Plaid.
Why Some Steps Take a Little Longer
Most FlipSeats processes run automatically behind the scenes, but for the most critical steps—like reviewing new listings or setting Pro Pricing—we intentionally involve a human. This ensures accuracy, protects your tickets, and gives you peace of mind knowing that experts are watching out for your sale.
During business hours, these reviews usually take less than an hour but can vary depending on volume. If you list after hours, it may take a bit longer before your tickets go live. But in every case, our goal is to make sure your tickets are not just listed—they’re listed right.
Bottom Line
At the end of the day, the answer to “How does FlipSeats work?” is simple: automation where it counts, backed by real people where it matters most. That’s how we help season ticket holders sell with confidence.
